বাংলাদেশের সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার প্রতি সংহতি প্রকাশ করে আবেগঘন ও জোরালো বক্তব্য দিয়েছেন ভারতের লোকসভার বিরোধীদলীয় নেতা এবং কংগ্রেসের শীর্ষনেতা রাহুল গান্ধী। সম্প্রতি অনুষ্ঠিত সর্বদলীয় এক নীতি-নির্ধারণী সভায় তিনি বলেন, শেখ হাসিনার ভারতে অবস্থানের জন্য কোনো আনুষ্ঠানিক স্ট্যাটাস বা পদের প্রয়োজন নেই; কারণ তিনি তাঁকে ‘মাতৃসম’ বলে শ্রদ্ধা করেন।
ভারতের রাজনৈতিক মহলে বাংলাদেশের সাম্প্রতিক পরিস্থিতি এবং শেখ হাসিনার অবস্থান নিয়ে আলোচনার প্রেক্ষাপটে রাহুল গান্ধী এই মন্তব্য করেন। ভারতের জাতীয় ঐক্যের বার্তা দিয়ে তিনি স্পষ্ট জানান, “শেখ হাসিনার বিষয়ে ভারতের সকল রাজনৈতিক দলের মধ্যে অভিন্ন মত রয়েছে। পুরো ভারতবর্ষ আজ শেখ হাসিনার পাশে আছে।”
দীর্ঘদিনের সম্পর্কের কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দিয়ে রাহুল গান্ধী আরও উল্লেখ করেন, ভারতের পরীক্ষিত বন্ধু হিসেবে শেখ হাসিনাকে সম্মান জানানো এবং তাঁর পাশে থাকা ভারতের নৈতিক দায়িত্ব। ভারত-বাংলাদেশ সম্পর্কের যে সুদৃঢ় ভিত্তি শেখ হাসিনা গড়ে তুলেছিলেন, তা ভারত সর্বদা গভীর কৃতজ্ঞতার সাথে স্মরণ করে।
উল্লেখ্য, রাজনৈতিক পটপরিবর্তনের পর থেকে শেখ হাসিনার ভারতে অবস্থান এবং তাঁর ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে নানা আলোচনা চলছিল। তবে ভারতের সরকারি ও বিরোধী—উভয় পক্ষই জাতীয় নিরাপত্তা ও দীর্ঘদিনের দ্বিপাক্ষিক বন্ধুত্বের স্বার্থে শেখ হাসিনার পাশে থাকার ব্যাপারে একমত পোষণ করেছে।

Speaking at a recent all-party policy meeting, he stated that Sheikh Hasina requires no formal status or position to remain in India, as he respects her as a mother figure.
Rahul Gandhi made these remarks against the backdrop of discussions in Indian political circles regarding the recent situation in Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina's current status. Sending a message of national unity in India, he clearly stated, "There is a consensus among all political parties in India regarding Sheikh Hasina. The entire nation of India stands beside Sheikh Hasina today."
Recalling their long-standing relationship, Rahul Gandhi further emphasized that as a time-tested friend of India, it is India's moral duty to respect Sheikh Hasina and stand by her side. He added that India always remembers with deep gratitude the strong foundation of India-Bangladesh relations that Sheikh Hasina built.
It is worth noting that international discussions have been ongoing regarding Sheikh Hasina's stay in India and her future following the political transition. However, both the governing and opposition sides in India have reached a consensus to stand by Sheikh Hasina in the interest of national security and long-standing bilateral friendship.
