রংপুরের গণপতি বাবুর পরিবারের হত্যাকাণ্ড শুধু চারটি প্রাণহানির ঘটনা নয়—এটি একটি পরিবারের স্বপ্ন, নিরাপত্তাবোধ এবং ভবিষ্যৎকে একসঙ্গে হত্যা করার মতো নির্মম ঘটনা। একটি পরিবারের নারী সদস্যদের হত্যার আগে যৌন নির্যাতনের অভিযোগ, শিশুটিকে হত্যার আগে তার শরীরে নৃশংস নির্যাতনের অভিযোগ এবং পরবর্তী সময়ে এসব তথ্য গোপন রাখার প্রশ্ন—সব মিলিয়ে ঘটনাটি ঘিরে তৈরি হয়েছে গভীর উদ্বেগ ও অসংখ্য প্রশ্ন।
ময়নাতদন্ত নিয়ে এত প্রশ্ন কেন?
ময়নাতদন্তের রিপোর্ট, আলামত, ফরেনসিক পরীক্ষা এবং প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীদের বক্তব্য—এসবই একটি হত্যাকাণ্ডের প্রকৃত রহস্য উদঘাটনের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উপাদান। অথচ এই ঘটনায় ময়নাতদন্ত ও মরদেহের ব্যবস্থাপনা নিয়ে যে প্রশ্নগুলো উঠেছে, তার সন্তোষজনক ব্যাখ্যা কি পাওয়া গেছে?
বিশেষ করে, স্বাভাবিক তদন্ত প্রক্রিয়া সম্পন্ন হওয়ার আগেই মরদেহ দ্রুত দাহ করার সিদ্ধান্ত কেন নেওয়া হলো—এই প্রশ্নের স্পষ্ট ও বিশ্বাসযোগ্য উত্তর জনগণ জানতে চায়। যদি কোনো অপরাধের আলামত নষ্ট হয়ে যাওয়ার আশঙ্কা থাকে, তাহলে সেটি শুধু তদন্তের জন্য নয়, ন্যায়বিচারের জন্যও অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়।
পুলিশের বক্তব্যে অসঙ্গতি থাকলে জবাব চাই
এই হত্যাকাণ্ডের ক্ষেত্রে বিভিন্ন ব্যক্তির বক্তব্যে যদি পরস্পরবিরোধিতা থেকে থাকে, তাহলে তার ব্যাখ্যা দিতে হবে। পুলিশ কী বলেছে, তদন্তকারীরা কী পেয়েছেন, ময়নাতদন্তে কী এসেছে এবং প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা কী বলেছেন—সবকিছু জনসমক্ষে স্বচ্ছতার সঙ্গে তুলে ধরা জরুরি।
কারণ রাষ্ট্রের আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীর প্রতি মানুষের আস্থা গড়ে ওঠে সত্য গোপন করে নয়, সত্য উদঘাটনের মাধ্যমে।
সংখ্যালঘু নিরাপত্তা কোনো রাজনৈতিক স্লোগান নয়
বাংলাদেশের হিন্দু সম্প্রদায়ের নিরাপত্তা নিয়ে দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই উদ্বেগ রয়েছে। কোনো একটি হত্যাকাণ্ডকে ধর্মীয় পরিচয়ের ভিত্তিতে ব্যাখ্যা করা যেমন বিপজ্জনক, তেমনি ধর্মীয় সংখ্যালঘুদের ওপর সংঘটিত কোনো অপরাধকে ‘সাধারণ ক্রাইম’ বলে দ্রুত পাশ কাটিয়ে যাওয়াও সমানভাবে বিপজ্জনক।
একটি পরিবার যদি তাদের ধর্মীয় পরিচয়ের কারণে আতঙ্কে থাকে, তবে সেই আতঙ্ক দূর করার দায় রাষ্ট্রের। অপরাধী হিন্দু, মুসলমান কিংবা অন্য কোনো পরিচয়ের—আইনের চোখে তার পরিচয় একটাই: অপরাধী।
সরকারের কাছে একটাই দাবি—সত্য প্রকাশ করুন
রংপুরের এই হত্যাকাণ্ড নিয়ে কোনো রাজনৈতিক ব্যাখ্যা নয়, চাই নিরপেক্ষ তদন্ত। চাই ফরেনসিক প্রমাণ প্রকাশ। চাই ময়নাতদন্তের পূর্ণাঙ্গ প্রতিবেদন। চাই মরদেহ দ্রুত দাহের সিদ্ধান্তের ব্যাখ্যা। চাই পুলিশ ও প্রশাসনের প্রতিটি বক্তব্যের জবাবদিহি।
কারণ চারটি মানুষকে আর ফিরিয়ে আনা যাবে না। কিন্তু সত্য উদঘাটন করা সম্ভব। ন্যায়বিচার নিশ্চিত করা সম্ভব।
রাষ্ট্র যদি সত্যিই প্রমাণ করতে চায় যে বাংলাদেশে প্রত্যেক নাগরিক সমান নিরাপদ, তাহলে এই হত্যাকাণ্ডের তদন্ত হতে হবে এমন স্বচ্ছ ও নিরপেক্ষ, যাতে কোনো সম্প্রদায়ের মনে আর একটি প্রশ্নও না থাকে—‘আমরা কি এই দেশে সত্যিই সমান নাগরিক?’
শোককে রাজনৈতিক অস্ত্রে পরিণত না করে, বরং সত্যকে সামনে এনে অপরাধীদের বিচারের মুখোমুখি করাই হোক এই চারটি প্রাণের প্রতি রাষ্ট্রের সর্বোচ্চ শ্রদ্ধা।

The murder of Ganapati Babu’s family in Rangpur is not merely the loss of four lives—it is a brutal act that extinguished a family’s dreams, sense of security, and future all at once. The allegations of sexual assault against the female members prior to their murder, the horrific torture inflicted on the child before being killed, and subsequent questions surrounding the concealment of this information have collectively raised deep anxiety and innumerable questions.
Why So Many Questions Regarding the Autopsy?
Autopsy reports, physical evidence, forensic examinations, and eyewitness testimonies are all critical elements in uncovering the true mystery behind a homicide. Yet, have satisfactory explanations been provided for the troubling questions raised regarding the autopsy and handling of the bodies in this case?
Particularly, the public demands a clear and credible answer as to why the decision was made to hastily cremate the bodies before the standard investigation process was completed. If there is a risk of critical crime evidence being destroyed, it poses a severe threat not only to the investigation but to justice itself.
Demanding Answers for Inconsistencies in Police Statements
If there are contradictions among various statements surrounding this homicide, they must be addressed. It is essential to transparently present to the public what the police stated, what investigators uncovered, what the autopsy revealed, and what eyewitnesses reported.
This is because public trust in the state's law enforcement agencies is built not by concealing the truth, but by uncovering it.
Minority Security Is Not a Political Slogan
Concerns regarding the security of Bangladesh's Hindu community have persisted for a long time. Just as it is dangerous to frame a murder solely around religious identity, it is equally dangerous to swiftly brush off a crime committed against a religious minority as a mere "ordinary crime."
If a family lives in fear due to their religious identity, the responsibility to alleviate that fear rests squarely on the state. Whether the perpetrator is Hindu, Muslim, or of any other identity, they carry only one identity in the eyes of the law: a criminal.
A Single Demand to the Government: Reveal the Truth
Regarding this murder in Rangpur, we do not want political narratives; we demand an impartial investigation. We demand the disclosure of forensic evidence. We demand the complete autopsy report. We demand an explanation for the decision to hastily cremate the bodies. We demand accountability for every statement made by the police and the administration.
Four human lives cannot be brought back. However, uncovering the truth is possible. Ensuring justice is achievable.
If the state truly wishes to prove that every citizen in Bangladesh is equally safe, the investigation into this murder must be so transparent and neutral that not a single question remains in the minds of any community: "Are we truly equal citizens in this country?"
Rather than turning grief into a political weapon, bringing the truth to light and holding the perpetrators accountable in court would be the state's highest form of respect for these four lives.
