বেলজিয়ামের ব্রাসেলসে হ্যান্ড ইন হ্যান্ড ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে ‘দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় গণতান্ত্রিক রূপান্তর, মানবাধিকার ও ভূরাজনীতি: চ্যালেঞ্জ এবং ভবিষ্যৎ দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি’ শীর্ষক একটি উচ্চপর্যায়ের আন্তর্জাতিক সংলাপ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন ইউরোপীয় পার্লামেন্টের সদস্য ও মানবাধিকারবিষয়ক সাবকমিটির সদস্য ড্যানিয়েলে ডেলা ভালে।
উদ্বোধনী বক্তব্যে ফাউন্ডেশনের সাধারণ সম্পাদক এ এফ এম গোলাম জিলানী বলেন, দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় গণতন্ত্র, মানবাধিকার, আইনের শাসন ও টেকসই উন্নয়ন নিশ্চিত করতে আন্তর্জাতিক সহযোগিতা ও গঠনমূলক সংলাপের বিকল্প নেই।
সংলাপে ইউরোপ ও দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার বিশিষ্ট রাজনীতিক, কূটনীতিক, শিক্ষাবিদ, আইনজীবী ও গবেষকরা অংশ নেন। আলোচনায় দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার পরিবর্তিত ভূরাজনীতি, গণতান্ত্রিক রূপান্তর, সুশাসন, মানবাধিকার, আঞ্চলিক সহযোগিতা এবং অর্থনৈতিক স্থিতিশীলতার বিভিন্ন দিক উঠে আসে। বক্তারা গণতান্ত্রিক প্রতিষ্ঠান শক্তিশালী করা, আইনের শাসন প্রতিষ্ঠা এবং মানবাধিকার সুরক্ষায় কার্যকর উদ্যোগের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন।
বাংলাদেশের মানবাধিকার, নাগরিক স্বাধীনতা, স্বাস্থ্য, বিনিয়োগ পরিবেশ ও অর্থনৈতিক পরিস্থিতিও আলোচনায় স্থান পায়। বিভিন্ন বক্তা দেশের বর্তমান পরিস্থিতি নিয়ে নিজ নিজ মূল্যায়ন ও উদ্বেগ তুলে ধরেন। কেউ মানবাধিকার, রাজনৈতিক অংশগ্রহণ ও জবাবদিহিতা জোরদারের আহ্বান জানান, আবার কেউ বাংলাদেশের উন্নয়নের ধারাবাহিকতা বজায় রাখতে সুশাসন ও শক্তিশালী রাষ্ট্রীয় প্রতিষ্ঠান গড়ে তোলার ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। কয়েকজন বক্তা বাংলাদেশের সাম্প্রতিক রাজনৈতিক পরিস্থিতি সম্পর্কে বিভিন্ন দাবি ও মতামতও তুলে ধরেন।
সমাপনী বক্তব্যে ড্যানিয়েলে ডেলা ভালে বলেন, গণতন্ত্র, মানবাধিকার ও আইনের শাসনের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধাই দীর্ঘমেয়াদি শান্তি, উন্নয়ন ও আন্তর্জাতিক অংশীদারত্বের ভিত্তি। ভবিষ্যতেও এ ধরনের আন্তর্জাতিক সংলাপ অব্যাহত রাখার প্রত্যয় ব্যক্ত করে আয়োজকরা অনুষ্ঠান শেষ করেন।
A high-level international dialogue titled “Democratic Transition, Human Rights and Geopolitics in South Asia: Challenges and Future Perspectives” was held in Brussels, organized by the Hand in Hand Foundation. The event was chaired by Daniele Della Valle, Member of the European Parliament and member of its Subcommittee on Human Rights.
In his opening remarks, Hand in Hand Foundation Secretary General A.F.M. Golam Jilani stressed that international cooperation and constructive dialogue are essential for strengthening democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and sustainable development across South Asia.
The dialogue brought together politicians, diplomats, academics, legal experts, and researchers from Europe and South Asia. Discussions focused on the region’s evolving geopolitical landscape, democratic transition, governance, human rights, regional cooperation, and economic stability. Speakers emphasized the importance of strengthening democratic institutions, ensuring the rule of law, and protecting fundamental human rights.
Bangladesh’s current human rights, economic, and social situation also received considerable attention. Participants shared differing assessments and concerns regarding governance, civil liberties, investment conditions, and public accountability. Several speakers highlighted the need for stronger institutions and transparent governance to sustain Bangladesh’s development, while others expressed their views and allegations regarding the country's recent political developments.
In his closing remarks, Daniele Della Valle said that respect for democracy, human rights, and the rule of law remains the foundation of lasting peace, sustainable development, and international cooperation. The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to promoting future international dialogues on democracy, peace, and human rights.
